Overview

Save your business name in Wyoming - Reserve a business name with the State of Wyoming for later use.

If you are not yet ready to incorporate or form a limited liability company (LLC), but would like to reserve your business name, Wyoming allows for name reservations.

Why it’s important

Keep in mind that while selecting a name for your Corporation or LLC (Limited Liability Company), that name must be distinguishable and so cannot be substantially similar to another name already in use by a business incorporated or registered to transact business in Wyoming. Once you decide on a name for your entity, let Registered Agents of Wyoming, LLC to check for name availability. Then, if you are not ready to incorporate or form an LLC, you can still reserve the name for future use.

Is my desired business name available in Wyoming?

Before you can start a business in Wyoming, you'll need to "Name Your Business." There are a few "Business Naming" rules you'll need to keep in mind.

For example, unless you meet certain criteria, your business name cannot include the following words:

• "Bank"
• "Insurance"
• "Attorney"
• "Trust"
• "Academy"
• "Education"
• "University"
• "School"
• and a few more...

While it is a good idea to use a name ending for your corporation, it is not required. In Wyoming a limited liability company (LLC) must use an ending/tailing to indicate it is an LLC. You may choose from a variety of formats to distinguish your LLC. If you select a name for your LLC with out an ending/tailing, we will simply add LLC for you. The name shall not be the same as or similar to the name of any domestic or foreign Corporation, Limited Liability Company (LLC), Limited Partnership, Trade Name or other business entity.

Something to keep in mind

If you do not form your company before the end of the reservation time period, the name becomes available for use by other companies. You are allowed to file another reservation for the same name, after your first reservation period expires.
